Coverage Outside California for Retirees with Medicare

Eligible retirees who have a home address outside of California, but remain in the USA (not U.S. territories), get separate, non-UC coverage through Via Benefits if they meet the following criteria:

  • Are notified by UC/Via Benefits that they are eligible for the program.
  • Are age 65+ and covering only Medicare-eligible age 65+ dependents.
  • Are enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B, with all covered dependents enrolled in Parts A & B.

Plan availability through Via Benefits is dependent upon the state/county of residence; contact Via Benefits directly to determine plan availability.
